The GUHRING 9009210014000 is a thread forming tap designed for M1.4x0.30 metric threads, used to cold-form internal threads without cutting or producing chips. Built from High-Speed Steel-E-CO and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), this tap delivers hardness retention and lubricity needed for small-diameter threading in tight tolerances. It conforms to a 6HX class of fit with a D4/D5 thread limit and features a modified bottoming chamfer with 2-3 chamfered threads. Overall length is 40 millimeters and thread length is 6 millimeters. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision machine shop technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This tap is suited for blind hole and through-hole threading in steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. Its small shank diameter of 2.50 millimeters makes it appropriate for precision components in miniature mechanical assemblies, medical device machining, and fine instrumentation work. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard plug tap. Series 921 designation places it within the GUHRING forming tap product family.
Designed for M1.4x0.30 metric right-hand thread forming in steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. Suitable for blind hole and through-hole threading applications requiring a 6HX class of fit with D4 or D5 thread limit.
Thread forming taps require a specific forming tap drill size rather than a standard tap drill - consult the appropriate forming tap drill chart for M1.4x0.30 to avoid oversized or undersized holes. Adequate tapping fluid or cutting oil formulated for the workpiece material should be applied before and during the tapping operation. At this diameter, torque control is critical; use a calibrated tapping head or CNC rigid tapping cycle with appropriate torque limiting to prevent tap breakage. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is secured before tool changes.
