The GUHRING 9008300120070 is a straight flute machine tap designed for cutting M12x1.50 metric fine internal threads in steel workpieces. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it is engineered for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual tapping machines where consistent thread quality is required. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes while still being suitable for through-hole applications. With 3 flutes and a right-hand thread direction, this tap suits production environments where chip control and thread accuracy are priorities. It carries a 6H class of fit and supports thread limits D5 and D6.
This tap is suited for threading operations in ferrous materials, particularly steel, in both blind hole and through-hole configurations. Its metric fine pitch of 1.50 mm makes it appropriate for applications requiring finer thread engagement than coarse-pitch alternatives, such as precision assemblies, thin-walled components, or situations where vibration resistance is critical. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and production operators in metalworking shops are the primary users. The Series 830 designation places it within a recognized line of Guhring straight flute taps intended for machine-driven tapping cycles.
Designed for machine tapping of M12x1.50 metric fine threads in steel. Compatible with standard machine tap holders and tapping chucks sized for a 9 mm shank diameter with a 7 mm square drive.
Installation and use of this tap should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with tapping speeds, feeds, and cutting fluid requirements for cobalt tooling in steel. Ensure the tapping machine or CNC spindle is powered down and the workpiece is securely clamped before loading the tap into the holder. Use an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping oil to extend tool life and maintain thread quality. Do not exceed the recommended surface speed for the workpiece material, and back the tap out periodically in blind hole applications to clear chips and prevent breakage.
