The GUHRING 9008270080050 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in steel and similar ferrous materials. Built to M8x1.00 Metric Fine specifications with a 6H class of fit, this tap delivers consistent thread accuracy in production and maintenance environments. The 3-flute spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting zone, reducing clogging and improving tool life in through-hole applications. Manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it is suited for shops that prefer uncoated tooling for specific material compatibility. Overall length is 90 millimeters with a 6 millimeter shank diameter, fitting standard tap holders and chucks in that size range. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and toolroom technicians.
This tap is rated for through-hole threading operations in steel. The plug chamfer style provides a gradual lead-in of several threads, making it well suited for starting threads in through holes where the tap can exit freely on the opposite side. It is appropriate for both manual tapping and low-speed machine tapping setups. The D4/D5 thread limit provides a controlled fit suitable for standard 6H tolerance requirements in general mechanical assemblies. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when tapping steel.
Designed for through-hole threading in steel workpieces requiring M8x1.00 Metric Fine threads to a 6H class of fit. Suitable for use in standard tap holders, floating tap holders, and drill press chucks accepting a 6 millimeter shank.
This tap should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with threading operations. Always secure the workpiece and ensure the tap is properly aligned with the pre-drilled hole before applying torque. Apply cutting fluid or tapping oil generously when threading steel to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life. Reverse the tap periodically during hand tapping to break chips and prevent binding.
