The GUHRING 9007300064000 is a stub-length (screw machine length) solid carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in production and machining environments. Built to DIN 6539 standards, this bit features a 118-degree faceted point, a web-thinned tip geometry, and a bright uncoated finish. The micrograin carbide construction provides the rigidity and edge retention needed for consistent hole quality. At 0.252 inches (6.40 mm) in diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank of the same diameter, it is sized for use in standard chucks and collet toolholders. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This drill bit is well suited for drilling aluminum as its primary workpiece material, though the general-purpose grade and regular spiral flute geometry also support use in a range of non-ferrous and softer ferrous materials. The stub-length (3xD) body keeps deflection low in short-reach applications, making it a practical choice for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine setups where rigidity matters. Maximum drilling depth is 0.843 inches (21.40 mm). The Series 730 designation places it within a standard production drill line.
Designed as a general-purpose stub-length carbide drill bit suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is aluminum per manufacturer specification.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle or chuck is fully powered down and at rest before inserting or removing the bit. Carbide tooling is brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts beyond the tool rating, or excessive feed rates that can cause chipping or fracture. Verify clamping runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a production run.
