The GUHRING 9006600003100 is a wire gauge size 83 micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight-tolerance applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and resistance to heat buildup during cutting. The drill measures 0.0122 inches (0.31 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 0.984 inches. The 118-degree faceted point geometry, combined with a web-thinned and tapered web configuration, promotes accurate entry and reduces thrust. Right-hand spiral fluting evacuates chips efficiently in short-run micro drilling operations. This bit is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision fabricators working in production or maintenance environments.
This micro drill bit is suited for drilling aluminum as its primary workpiece material, with titanium alloy listed as a secondary material application. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 1.00 mm shank diameter fits standard micro drill chucks and collet holders. Maximum drilling depth is 0.076 inches (1.94 mm), making it appropriate for shallow through-holes and blind holes in thin stock, small components, PCB assemblies, and precision metalwork where wire gauge sizing is required. The 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio supports controlled chip evacuation over the full drilling depth.
Designed for use in standard micro drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 1.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility is aluminum; secondary compatibility includes titanium alloy. Part of GUHRING Series 660.
Micro drill bits of this diameter require a rigid, high-RPM spindle setup to minimize runout and prevent breakage. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck before operation and verify that runout is within acceptable tolerance for the diameter class. At 0.0122 inches, this bit is extremely fragile — avoid side loading and use only the rated maximum drilling depth of 0.076 inches per pass. No coolant-through capability; external misting or flood coolant directed at the cutting zone is recommended when drilling titanium alloy.
