The GUHRING 9006590037300 is a stub-length (screw machine length) cobalt drill bit engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to DIN 1897 standards, this Series 659 bit measures 0.147 inches (wire size 26) in diameter with an overall length of 2.0472 inches and a 130-degree split point. The parabolic flute geometry and web-thinned point reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation in tough materials. Cobalt construction provides the heat resistance needed when cutting hard alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. This bit is rated heavy duty and carries a maximum drilling depth of 0.567 inches.
This drill bit is primarily specified for machining titanium alloy and similarly hard workpiece materials where standard HSS tooling fails prematurely. The stub length format provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, manual drill presses, and hand drilling fixtures where deflection must be minimized. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and parallel web configuration support consistent chip flow in deep-hole entry cuts. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and aerospace maintenance technicians are the typical end users. Coolant-through capability is not available on this model, so surface or flood coolant application is recommended when drilling titanium.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling solution for machining operations involving titanium alloy and other hard ferrous and non-ferrous materials; compatible with any drill chuck or collet holder accepting a 0.1469-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits before drilling to protect the close-tolerance shank. When drilling titanium or hard alloys, apply flood or surface coolant to manage heat since this bit does not support coolant-through delivery.
