The GUHRING 9006590005000 is a cobalt stub-length screw machine drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding materials. Built to DIN 1897 standards, it features a 0.50 mm (0.0197 inches) diameter with a 130-degree split point and a parabolic flute design that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduced thrust. The straight-cylindrical shank and web-thinned construction make it well-suited for high-cycle production environments. With an overall length of 20.00 mm (0.7874 inches) and a flute length of 3.00 mm (0.1180 inches), this heavy-duty bit is sized for tight-tolerance, close-quarter drilling operations.
This drill bit is designed primarily for machining titanium alloy and other tough workpiece materials where cobalt tooling is the standard choice. Its stub length geometry reduces deflection and improves rigidity in short-depth applications. Typical applications include aerospace component fabrication, precision machine shops, and industrial production drilling where hole positioning accuracy and tool life are critical. The right-hand cut and parabolic flute geometry handle work-hardening materials that would quickly wear standard high-speed steel tooling.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length replacement drill bit suitable for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at 0.50 mm diameter.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with small-diameter cobalt tooling. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant at the spindle to extend tool life, particularly when drilling titanium alloy. Avoid side loading or pecking beyond the rated maximum drilling depth of 0.0890 inches (2.25 mm) to prevent bit breakage.
