The GUHRING 9006580067500 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in Letter H (17/64 inch, 0.2656 inch decimal) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating and a 130-degree split point. Built to DIN 338 standards, this is a high-performance two-flute bit designed for demanding production drilling in steel and cast iron. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at depth. The web-thinned, tapered-web point reduces thrust requirements at entry. Licensed tradespeople and machining professionals select this series when job conditions demand longer tool life than standard HSS provides.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in ferrous metals, specifically steel (material code P) and cast iron (material code K). Typical applications include fabrication shops, industrial maintenance, and mechanical contractors working with structural steel, plate, and castings. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks without adapters. With a parabolic flute-to-diameter ratio of 5xD and a maximum drilling depth of 2.318 inches (58.88 mm), it handles through-hole and moderate-depth drilling without peck cycles in many setups.
Designed as a DIN 338-compliant jobber-length drill bit suitable for use in drill presses, milling machines, and hand-held drills accepting a 17/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron per DIN material codes P and K.
Install in a properly sized chuck and tighten securely before operation. Ensure the workpiece is fixtured or clamped before drilling to prevent rotation. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material when drilling at higher feeds or depths, as this bit does not support through-tool coolant. Inspect the cutting edges before reuse; cobalt bits can be resharpened by qualified tool grinders to restore geometry.
