The GUHRING 9006580031700 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to DIN 338 standards, it features a 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch) diameter with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends tool life and reduces friction during cutting. The 130-degree split point angle and web-thinned, tapered web design improve penetration and reduce axial force on entry. With a parabolic flute geometry and 2-flute configuration, the bit efficiently evacuates chips and maintains stability at depth. Machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working with cast iron and steel stock will find this bit suited to production and repair drilling tasks.
This bit is sized for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The Series 658 designation places it in a family engineered for harder ferrous materials, including cast iron and steel. With a maximum drilling depth of 1.23 inches (31.25 mm) and an overall length of 2-9/16 inches, it fits benchtop drill presses, handheld drills, and CNC drilling applications where a standard jobber reach is appropriate. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip clearance in deeper passes without packing.
Designed as a DIN 338-compliant jobber length drill bit compatible with cast iron and steel workpieces; primary workpiece material codes K and P. Fits any chuck or collet system accepting a 1/8 inch straight shank.
Install in a drill press, handheld drill, or CNC spindle using a chuck or collet rated for 1/8 inch straight shanks. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before drilling to prevent bit deflection or breakage. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling steel to manage heat buildup, as this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace if chipping or wear is observed.
