The GUHRING 9006580011900 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous metals and cast iron. It carries a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating to extend tool life and reduce friction during cutting. The 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch decimal) diameter bit features a 130-degree split point, web-thinned tip, and parabolic flute geometry that clears chips efficiently and reduces thrust requirements. Overall length is 1-1/2 inches with a 5/8 inch flute length. Right-hand cut with a straight-cylindrical shank sized at 3/64 inch. Manufactured to DIN 338 specification. Intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking professionals.
This bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel in production and maintenance environments. The parabolic flute profile supports deeper drilling by improving chip evacuation, particularly relevant in blind-hole applications up to 0.56 inch depth. The TiN coating provides surface hardness and heat resistance, making it appropriate for higher-speed operations where uncoated bits would wear prematurely. Series 658 designates this as a high-performance catalog line within the GUHRING program. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces (primary workpiece material codes K and P per DIN classification). Fits any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 3/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with metalworking drill press or hand-drill operation. Secure the workpiece before drilling and use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling steel to maximize bit life. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 0.56 inch without retracting to clear chips. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use, as TiN-coated cobalt bits should be resharpened or replaced when chipping or excessive wear is observed.
