The GUHRING 9005520046200 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. Built to DIN 1897 standards, this 0.1819-inch diameter bit is machined from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish. The parabolic flute geometry combined with a web-thinned, parallel web configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces thrust force in short-reach drilling applications. The 130-degree split point minimizes walking and allows for accurate entry without a center punch in most setups. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks across a wide range of machine tooling setups.
This Series 552 stub drill is suited for production and repair environments where a short, rigid drill is needed — particularly in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations. Its compact overall length of 2-9/32 inches and 15/16-inch flute length make it well-suited for applications with limited spindle clearance or where hole depth requirements fall within its 0.6720-inch maximum drilling depth. Primary workpiece material is aluminum, though the geometry is also applicable to softer non-ferrous metals and plastics encountered in trade fabrication work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production-use drill bit for applications requiring a wire size #14 (0.1819-inch decimal) stub-length drill conforming to DIN 1897 specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with drill press, CNC, or screw machine operation. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the machine spindle is at a full stop before changing bits. Match spindle speed and feed rate to the workpiece material and bit diameter according to published cutting data for high speed steel tooling. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 0.6720 inches per pass without retracting to clear chips.
