The GUHRING 9005490061000 is a jobber-length twist drill bit ground from high speed steel (HSS) to a 6.1 mm (0.2402 inch) diameter. It runs a 130-degree split point with web thinning to reduce thrust and improve centering on entry. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and helps maintain cutting speed in softer materials. At 101 mm (3-31/32 inches) overall length with a 63 mm (2-31/32 inches) flute, it falls within standard jobber proportions. Manufactured to DIN 338 tolerances, the bit carries a bright, uncoated finish suited for general-purpose and aluminum drilling applications. Installation is handled by machinists, maintenance techs, and metalworking professionals.
This drill bit is engineered primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials, as indicated by its K, N, and P workpiece material classification. The parabolic flute and web-thinned point make it well suited to production drilling in sheet stock, extrusions, and castings where clean entry and smooth chip flow are priorities. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw chucks and collet holders used in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills. Maximum drilling depth is rated at 53.85 mm (2.12 inches).
Designed as a DIN 338 jobber-length replacement for standard HSS drill bits in the 6.00 mm to 7.00 mm size range. Fits any three-jaw chuck or collet holder accepting a 0.2402 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a drill press, milling machine, or CNC spindle with an appropriate chuck or collet. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened before operation. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; a worn point should be reground or the bit replaced to prevent workpiece damage and unsafe loading.
