The GUHRING 9005150103200 is a stub-length (screw machine length) twist drill bit built for production drilling in cast iron and steel. Manufactured from powdered metal (PMASP60 grade) with a coated finish, this bit runs a 2-flute parabolic geometry and a web-thinned, parallel-web construction to reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation. The 130-degree split point starts on contact without a center punch. At 0.4062 inches (13/32 inch) in diameter and 3.504 inches overall, it is sized for toolroom, machine shop, and maintenance applications where a standard jobber length would be too long for the setup. HVAC, plumbing, and electrical mechanics who drill structural steel or cast iron housings in tight clearances will find the stub format practical.
This drill bit is intended for right-hand rotation in conventional drill presses, CNC machining centers, and portable magnetic drills. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel. The parabolic flute profile handles interrupted cuts and deep-hole chip clearing effectively at the rated maximum drilling depth of 1.083 inches. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks without an adapter. Series 515 follows DIN 1897 specification for stub-length drills.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length replacement drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at 0.4062 inches diameter; rated for cast iron and steel workpiece materials per Series 515 specification.
Installation of this drill bit is performed by machinists and trade mechanics using a drill press, CNC spindle, or magnetic drill with a compatible chuck. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation and confirm spindle runout is within acceptable limits to protect the diameter tolerance. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable workplace safety standards when drilling ferrous materials. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use an external cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material.
