The GUHRING 9005150102000 is a stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit engineered for productive metal removal in cast iron and steel. Built from powdered metal (PMASP60 grade) with a coated finish, this 0.4016-inch diameter bit features a 130-degree split point and a parabolic flute geometry designed to clear chips efficiently at higher feed rates. The web-thinned, parallel-web construction reduces thrust at entry, and the straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or screw machine spindles. Overall length is 3.5039 inches with a flute length of 1.6929 inches. Conforms to DIN 1897.
This bit is suited for production drilling operations in machine shops, manufacturing environments, and maintenance settings where short, rigid tooling is preferred over jobber-length bits. The stub length minimizes deflection and improves hole accuracy in interrupted cuts, thin-wall workpieces, and high-cycle screw machine work. Primary target materials are cast iron and steel. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 1.0910 inches make it well-matched to shallow, precise holes in ferrous components.
Designed as a DIN 1897 stub-length replacement drill bit for production drilling applications in cast iron and steel. Fits any drill press, screw machine, or CNC spindle accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of this diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully de-energized and at a complete stop. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged bit should be replaced rather than reused. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and coolant practices when drilling ferrous materials.
