The GUHRING 9003360024900 is a Series 336 taper length twist drill bit manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished bright/uncoated. It is sized to wire gauge No. 40, with a decimal diameter of 0.0980 inches. The 130-degree split point and parabolic flute geometry are designed to reduce walking on entry, clear chips efficiently, and maintain tool life in demanding materials. With a flute length of 2-7/16 inches and an overall length of 3-3/4 inches, this bit is suited for through-hole and deep drilling applications where a standard jobber length is insufficient. It is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians working in production or repair environments.
This drill bit is rated for use in cast iron, hardened and hard materials, stainless steel, and carbon and alloy steels. The taper length configuration provides additional reach over a jobber-length bit without sacrificing rigidity, making it appropriate for drilling through thicker stock or in situations where a longer reach is required. The straight cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders. A flute-to-diameter ratio of 10xD supports chip evacuation in deeper cuts. This bit is sold individually and is well suited for CNC drilling, manual mills, and bench drill presses.
Designed as a DIN 340 taper length replacement or production drill bit for applications requiring a No. 40 wire size (0.0980 inch diameter) in cast iron, hard materials, stainless steel, and steel. Compatible with any standard drill chuck or collet holder accepting a 0.0980-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a drill press, manual mill, or CNC machining center. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is tightened securely before operation. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, particularly when drilling stainless steel or hard alloys. Inspect the cutting edge for wear before use and replace the bit if chipping or rounding is observed at the point.
