The GUHRING 9003290140000 is a cobalt (M35 grade) stub-length drill bit engineered for demanding metalworking applications. It carries a 0.5512-inch (14.00 mm) diameter with a 130-degree cone-relief point and a web-thinned tip that reduces entry thrust and improves centering on hard materials. The two-flute, regular-spiral geometry moves chips efficiently in short-hole operations. Overall length is 107.00 mm with a 54.00 mm flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and maintenance mechanics working with high-strength alloys rely on this Series 329 bit where a standard HSS drill would work-harden the workpiece.
This drill bit is sized for stub-length (screw machine length) applications where clearance is limited or rigidity is the priority over depth. Its primary workpiece material rating is titanium alloy, making it well-suited for aerospace maintenance, medical device shops, and industrial facilities that regularly machine Ti-6Al-4V and similar grades. The maximum drilling depth is 1.2990 inches (33.00 mm), consistent with its 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio. The DIN 1897 standard governs its geometry and dimensional tolerances.
Designed as a DIN 1897 Series 329 stub-length drill bit with a 14.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank; fits any drill press, CNC machining center, or hand drill with a chuck or collet accepting a 14.00 mm shank diameter.
Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or keyed chuck before operation and verify runout before drilling titanium or other work-hardening alloys. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant rated for cobalt tooling and titanium to prevent thermal damage to both the bit and the workpiece. Allow the spindle to reach full speed before contact and maintain consistent feed pressure to avoid rubbing, which work-hardens titanium and shortens tool life. Follow shop-specific tooling safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine-guarding requirements when operating drill presses or CNC equipment.
