The GUHRING 9003010011000 is a cobalt micro drill bit engineered for precision drilling in small-diameter applications. Built to DIN 1899 specification, it features a 118-degree faceted point with web thinning on a tapered web configuration, which reduces thrust force at entry and supports cleaner hole starts in hard-to-drill materials. The bit measures 0.0433 inches in diameter with an overall length of 0.984 inches and a spiral flute length of approximately 0.299 inches. The bright, uncoated cobalt construction provides heat resistance during dry drilling cycles without the added friction that some coatings introduce on softer non-ferrous substrates. Installed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision fabricators, this bit is suited for CNC drill press and bench-drill applications requiring tight tolerances.
This micro drill bit is designed primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous materials, with secondary suitability for titanium alloy workpieces. The right-hand spiral flute geometry, combined with a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, supports chip evacuation in shallow holes up to a maximum drilling depth of 0.234 inches. The straight-cylindrical shank at 1.50 mm diameter seats securely in standard collets and drill chucks used in micro-drilling fixtures. Series 301 designates this as part of a defined product family within the GUHRING catalog, allowing straightforward cross-reference when specifying replacement tooling.
Designed as an OEM-specification micro drill bit per DIN 1899 for use with standard collet and chuck systems accepting a 1.50 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are aluminum and non-ferrous alloys; secondary application covers titanium alloy. Coolant-through operation is not supported.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with micro-drill handling procedures. Secure the shank fully in a matched collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. At this diameter, excessive feed pressure will cause bit deflection or breakage - use controlled, low-feed CNC or manual feeds appropriate for cobalt micro tooling. Inspect the cutting edge and web condition before each use; micro drill bits at this diameter are susceptible to chipping if stored or handled improperly.
