The GUHRING 9002050023700 is a No. 42 wire-gauge jobber-length drill bit machined from M2 high speed steel with an oxide finish. It carries a 118-degree standard point angle and a right-hand spiral flute in a regular helix, making it a general-purpose tool suited to production and maintenance drilling in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 2.37 mm in diameter and the drill conforms to DIN 338, the widely recognized standard for jobber-length twist drills. Overall length is 57.00 mm with a 30.00 mm flute length and a maximum drilling depth of 26.45 mm. Two flutes provide efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole operations.
This bit is designed for drilling cast iron and steel in general shop, maintenance, and light production environments. The DIN 338 Series 205 geometry with a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio is a common configuration for machine tool chucks, hand drills, and drill presses. The web-thinned, tapered-web point reduces thrust requirements and improves centering on entry, which is useful when drilling without a center punch in steel plate or cast iron components. No coolant-through feature is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied where required by the workpiece material.
Designed as a general-purpose DIN 338 jobber drill for use in standard drill chucks accommodating a 2.37 mm straight shank. Suitable for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces as noted in the product specifications.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, or qualified maintenance personnel. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully and evenly in a keyed or keyless drill chuck before operating. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling steel to extend tool life and manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point is damaged, as a worn drill increases thrust, promotes wandering, and can damage the workpiece or the spindle.
