The GROBET 31.520 is a Swiss-pattern needle file in a half round profile, designed for precision filing work in tight tolerances and fine detail applications. Cut 2 refers to the tooth coarseness grade on the Swiss-pattern scale, placing it in the second-cut range suitable for medium-fine stock removal and surface finishing. The file measures 5.5 inches overall length with a 2.5-inch length of cut, a 0.2-inch width, and a 0.06-inch thickness. It features a tang end for use with a separate handle. HVAC, tool-and-die, plumbing, and general mechanical tradespeople use Swiss-pattern needle files for deburring, fitting, and shaping metal components in confined areas.
This file is suited for precision work on metal parts where standard hand files are too coarse or too large. Typical applications include deburring copper fittings, cleaning threads, fitting valve seats, smoothing weld flash on thin stock, and refining machined surfaces. The half round profile gives the technician both a flat face and a curved face in a single tool, making it effective on both flat surfaces and concave or curved work pieces. It is commonly used in HVAC, plumbing, and light fabrication trades as well as in precision mechanical and electrical work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct addition to standard Swiss-pattern needle file sets used in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general mechanical trades. Compatible with any standard tang-style file handle sized for needle files.
A licensed technician or qualified tradesperson should secure the tang in a proper file handle before use to prevent hand injury. File in one direction with controlled strokes to preserve tooth life and maintain surface finish quality. Keep the file clear of cutting oils or lubricants unless specifically required, as excess fluid can load the teeth. Store separately from other metal tools to prevent tooth damage.
