The GROBET 31.519 is a Swiss-pattern needle file in a half round profile, designed for precision filing and deburring work in metalworking, tool-and-die, and finishing applications. At 5.5 inches overall length with a 2.5-inch length of cut and a Cut 0 coarseness, this file delivers aggressive material removal while maintaining the fine control expected from Swiss-pattern tooling. The tang end accepts a standard file handle, sold separately. It is used by machinists, tool grinders, jewelers, and trade professionals who require repeatable, close-tolerance hand filing on metal workpieces.
The half round profile makes this file suited for working both flat and curved surfaces in a single tool. It performs well in deburring bores, shaping slots, and refining contoured edges on metal parts. At 0.2 inches wide and 0.06 inches thick, the profile fits into restricted areas where larger files cannot reach. Typical applications include die maintenance, precision instrument repair, and fabrication finishing work where surface quality and dimensional accuracy matter.
Designed as a standard Swiss-pattern needle file suitable for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in precision hand-filing applications.
Install a file handle onto the tang before use to reduce hand fatigue and improve control. Always file with forward strokes, lifting the file on the return to preserve tooth sharpness. Do not use this file on hardened steel harder than the file itself, as this can damage the cutting teeth. Keep files stored separately to prevent contact between teeth, which causes premature dulling.
