The GROBET 31.506 is a Swiss-pattern equalling needle file designed for precision metalworking, toolmaking, and fine finishing tasks. The equalling profile features a rectangular cross-section with parallel edges and flat faces, making it well suited for smoothing flat surfaces, fitting close-tolerance joints, and refining inside corners. Cut 0 is a coarse-grade tooth pattern that removes material quickly while still delivering the controlled, consistent cut associated with Swiss-pattern manufacture. The file has an overall length of 6.25 inches with a 3-inch length of cut and terminates in a tang for use with a standard file handle.
This file is a common choice for machinists, tool and die makers, jewelers, and general metalworking trades that require repeatable, fine-control filing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The needle-file form factor suits benchtop and hand-held work where a full-size file would be too large for the task. It is appropriate for deburring, fitting mating parts, and finishing work in tight or recessed areas.
Designed as an OEM-style Swiss-pattern needle file suitable for use with standard aftermarket file handles sized for needle-file tangs.
Always seat the tang fully into a properly sized handle before use to prevent injury from an exposed tang. Secure the workpiece in a vise or fixture before filing to maintain control and accuracy. Files should be used with smooth, forward-stroke pressure only; dragging on the return stroke dulls the teeth prematurely. Do not use this file on hardened steel harder than the file itself, as this will damage the cutting teeth.
