The GROBET 31.499 is a Swiss-pattern equalling needle file designed for precision material removal and surface finishing in tight tolerances. With a 4-inch overall length and a 1.75-inch length of cut, this rectangular-profile file is suited for fine deburring, fitting, and finishing work on metal components. Cut 2 grit provides a balance between stock removal and smooth finish, making it appropriate for tool-and-die work, instrument repair, and precision fabrication tasks. It ships without a handle, using a tang end for use with a separately sourced file handle.
This file is used in precision metalworking, tool and die, jewelry, instrument repair, and general bench work applications. The equalling profile - a flat rectangular cross-section with parallel faces - allows work on flat surfaces, slots, and mating parts where consistent thickness across the file width is required. Its needle file classification makes it appropriate for detail work in confined areas where standard-length files cannot reach effectively.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct bench-stock addition for precision needle file sets used in tool-and-die, instrument repair, and fine metalworking applications.
Needle files are hand tools installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, jewelers, and precision fabricators. Before use, fit a handle rated for the tang size to prevent hand injury from the exposed tang. Always secure the workpiece in a vise or fixture before filing. Inspect the file for cracks or missing teeth before each use and replace if damaged.
