The GROBET 31.065 is a Swiss-pattern equalling file with a rectangular cross-section, designed for precision flat-surface filing and deburring in metalworking applications. It measures 4 inches overall length, 13/32 inches wide, and 5/64 inches thick, with a double-cut, Cut 0 coarseness rating suited for standard stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The tang-style shank accepts a standard file handle. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, pipefitters, and plumbers reach for Swiss-pattern files when fitting mating surfaces, cleaning up threads, or dressing valve seats and fittings.
This equalling file is used where both flat faces need to cut simultaneously on parallel workpiece surfaces, making it practical for slot filing, key fitting, and squaring up shoulders in bench metalwork. The rectangular profile and double-cut teeth allow controlled material removal across the full face. It is appropriate for light shop use, maintenance work, and field fitting tasks where close-tolerance hand filing is required.
Designed as an OEM-style Swiss-pattern replacement file compatible with standard tang-style file handles used in general metalworking, pipefitting, and maintenance applications.
Always fit a properly sized handle onto the tang before use to prevent hand injury from an exposed tang. Secure the workpiece in a vise before filing. File in controlled forward strokes and lift on the return stroke to preserve tooth life. Inspect file teeth regularly and use a file card to clear metal loading that reduces cutting efficiency.
