The GRIER ABRASIVES W201-S5-17573 is a cylinder-shaped mounted point abrasive designed for precision grinding, deburring, and surface finishing on hard materials. Built with silicon carbide abrasive grain and a unitized bond type, it delivers consistent fine-grade cutting action on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, ceramics, and stone. The point measures 0.25 inches in thickness with a 0.125-inch shank diameter and a 1.5-inch shank length, making it compatible with standard die grinders and rotary tools. Rated for a maximum of 38,250 RPM, this mounted point suits high-speed precision work where surface quality and tight tolerances matter. Machinists, tool-and-die techs, and metalworking professionals are the primary users.
This mounted point is suited for use in both production and maintenance grinding applications. Its W201 cylinder shape and fine grade make it well-suited for internal bore finishing, contoured surface work, and light material removal where a finer finish is the goal. The silicon carbide grain is particularly effective on harder, brittle materials such as cast iron, carbide, stone, ceramics, and glass. The soft density rating allows the abrasive to break down more readily, exposing fresh grain and reducing glazing during use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-use mounted point for die grinders and rotary tools accepting a 1/8-inch shank diameter collet.
Mounted points are installed and removed by a qualified machinist or metalworking professional using the appropriate collet wrench for the tool being used. Always confirm that the spindle RPM of the host tool does not exceed the 38,250 RPM rating marked for this abrasive. Inspect the mounted point for cracks, chips, or shank damage before each use - never use a damaged abrasive. Allow the mounted point to run at operating speed for a brief interval before applying it to the workpiece, and ensure all guards are in place per ANSI B7.1 safety standards.
