The GRIER ABRASIVES W196-GB-9573 is a W196 cylinder-shape mounted point designed for precision grinding, deburring, and surface finishing on metal workpieces. It is made from aluminum oxide abrasive bonded with a vitrified bond system, producing a hard, durable grinding surface. The point measures 1 inch thick with a 1/4-inch shank diameter and a 1-1/2-inch shank length, and it runs at a maximum of 35,250 RPM. At 60 grit and a medium grade, it removes material efficiently while leaving a consistent finish. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians install this type of mounted point in die grinders and rotary tools for internal bore work, contour grinding, and weld cleanup.
This mounted point is suited for use on hardened steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals in both production and maintenance environments. It fits standard 1/4-inch collet die grinders commonly used in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and MRO settings. The W196 cylinder profile makes it well matched for grinding flat surfaces inside bores, slots, and recessed areas where larger wheels cannot reach. It is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 25 units, making it appropriate for shop stocking or production line replenishment.
Designed for use with die grinders and rotary tools equipped with a 1/4-inch collet. Verify that the tool spindle speed does not exceed 35,250 RPM before mounting.
A licensed or qualified machinist or maintenance technician should mount and operate this point following applicable ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheels. Inspect the mounted point for chips or cracks before each use and never operate above the rated maximum RPM. Power down and disconnect the die grinder from its air or electrical supply before installing or changing mounted points. Always use appropriate eye protection and guarding during grinding operations.
