The GRIER ABRASIVES W176-S6-17250 is a cylinder-shaped mounted point abrasive designed for precision grinding, deburring, and surface finishing on hard materials. Built with a silicon carbide abrasive grain and a unitized bond type, this mounted point delivers consistent stock removal at a fine grade. It runs at a maximum of 45,370 RPM on a 1/8-inch diameter shank, making it compatible with standard die grinders and rotary tools used in metal fabrication and toolroom work. The green silicon carbide composition suits grinding of non-ferrous metals, ceramics, and hard alloys where aluminum oxide would underperform. At 0.006 pounds, it is a lightweight consumable suited to high-frequency use.
This mounted point is used in applications that require controlled material removal in tight or contoured areas. Common install and use scenarios include weld cleanup, cavity finishing in molds and dies, porting work, and edge preparation on hard substrates. It fits standard die grinders and flexible-shaft machines with a 1/8-inch collet. Both shop technicians and toolroom machinists reach for this type of point when precision grinding in confined geometry is required. The medium density and fine grade combination favors finishing passes over aggressive hogging cuts.
Designed for use in die grinders, flexible-shaft machines, and rotary tools fitted with a 1/8-inch collet capable of operating within the rated 45,370 RPM limit.
Mounted points must be installed and operated by personnel familiar with abrasive safety standards, including ANSI B7.1 guidelines. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 45,370 RPM rating before mounting. Secure the shank fully in the collet and tighten to the tool manufacturer specification before running. Always inspect the point for cracks or damage before use and discard if any defect is present.
