The GRIER ABRASIVES B122-N2-17558 is a ball-shaped mounted point abrasive designed for precision grinding, deburring, and surface finishing on metal and hard materials. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive grain in a unitized bond, this mounted point delivers consistent material removal at a fine grade. The 3/8-inch head thickness and 1/8-inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard die grinders and rotary tools. It is rated to a maximum of 61,650 RPM and carries a medium density for controlled cutting action. The green coloration identifies the fine-grade aluminum oxide formulation at a glance. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and metal fabricators are the primary users of this type of abrasive point.
This mounted point is suited for internal grinding, port work, weld blending, and finishing operations in tight or contoured areas that flat or disc abrasives cannot reach. The ball shape (B122 profile) is particularly effective on concave surfaces, radius features, and bore chamfering. It is used in production and maintenance environments across metal fabrication shops, machine shops, and industrial maintenance operations. The 1.5-inch shank length provides adequate reach for recessed work areas while maintaining stability at high RPM.
Designed for use with die grinders and rotary tools accepting a 1/8-inch shank. Suitable for grinding aluminum oxide-compatible workpiece materials including ferrous metals and hard alloys in standard shop applications.
Mounted points must be installed and operated by qualified machinists or tool operators familiar with abrasive safety standards. Always verify the tool spindle RPM does not exceed the 61,650 RPM rating of this point before operation. Inspect the shank and abrasive head for cracks or damage before mounting, and ensure the collet is clean and properly tightened. Wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable ANSI B7.1 abrasive wheel safety guidelines during use.
