The GRIER ABRASIVES A2-J3-19801 is a rubberized, mounted abrasive cone point designed for precision grinding, deburring, and surface blending in tight or contoured areas. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive in a coarse grade (46 grit) and a hard hardness rating, this cone point delivers aggressive material removal on ferrous metals, castings, and weld joints. It mounts on a 1/4-inch shank and is rated for a maximum spindle speed of 38,200 RPM, making it compatible with die grinders and rotary tools commonly used in fabrication, maintenance, and machine shop environments.
This mounted point is suited for both production and maintenance applications where access to concave surfaces, ports, or internal radii is required. Typical use cases include weld blending inside pipe joints, mold cavity cleanup, and deburring drilled or cast openings. The A2 cone shape concentrates abrasive contact at the tip and along the taper, allowing the operator to work into recesses that flat or cylindrical wheels cannot reach. It is appropriate for use by machinists, pipefitters, welders, and metal fabricators working with handheld or bench-mounted rotary equipment.
Designed as a standard mounted abrasive point for use with die grinders, flex-shaft machines, and rotary tools accepting a 1/4-inch collet. Verify that the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 38,200 RPM rating before mounting.
Mounting and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist, fabricator, or maintenance technician familiar with rotary abrasive tooling. Always ensure the tool is powered off and the spindle has come to a complete stop before inserting or removing the shank from the collet. Inspect the abrasive point for cracks, chips, or visible damage before each use and discard if any defects are found. Do not exceed the maximum rated RPM stamped or listed for the tool; running abrasive points beyond rated speed is a recognized safety hazard per ANSI B7 standards.
