The GREENLEE GSB08 is a multi-hole step drill bit designed for cutting clean, sized holes in sheet metal and thin-stock materials without the need for multiple bits. Built from M2 high-speed steel with a steam oxide finish, it steps through 10 hole sizes in a single tool, ranging from 3/16 inch up to 1 inch in diameter. The 3/8 inch, 3-flat shank locks securely in standard drill chucks and prevents slipping under torque. At 3.296 inches overall length and 0.3 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight tool suited for electricians, HVAC technicians, and plumbers who drill sheet metal enclosures, panels, and knockout holes on the job.
This step bit is rated for use in mild steel, aluminum, brass, copper, fiberglass, plastics, and wood, making it a versatile single-tool solution for trade work involving electrical panels, junction boxes, HVAC casings, and plumbing fixture plates. The split-point tip reduces walking on entry and allows drilling to begin without a center punch on most materials. Step increments run from 1/2 inch through 1 inch in 1/16 inch steps, giving the installer precise control over finished hole diameter across a wide range of knockout and conduit entry sizes.
Rated for use in mild steel, aluminum, brass, copper, fiberglass, plastics, and wood. Fits any drill or drill press accepting a 3/8 inch 3-flat shank. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use step bit for standard trade drilling applications in electrical, HVAC, and plumbing work.
Install the 3-flat shank firmly into a keyed or keyless chuck before use and confirm the bit is fully seated and locked. Always power down or disconnect the drill before changing or inspecting the bit. Use appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Follow applicable OSHA and site safety requirements when drilling into energized enclosures or panels.
