The GIBRALTAR Z1250 is a flat vent pull out dowel pin used in precision mechanical assemblies requiring tight-tolerance locating or alignment. Manufactured from case-hardened C1215 steel, this pin delivers a hard exterior surface with a tough core, making it well suited for applications where wear resistance and shear strength matter. The pin measures 5/16 inches in diameter with an overall length of 3/4 inches (0.7500 decimal inches). Diameter tolerance is held to 0.0001 to 0.0003 inches, which is appropriate for close-fit and press-fit bore applications. One end is beveled for guided insertion; the opposite end is threaded to allow mechanical pull-out without damage to the bore. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and assembly mechanics are the typical installers.
This dowel pin is used wherever a removable, precision-locating fastener is needed in light mechanical, industrial, or trade equipment assemblies. The flat vent groove running the length of the pin allows air and lubricant to escape during insertion, preventing hydraulic lock in blind holes. This design is standard in tooling plates, jigs, fixtures, and mechanical assemblies found in HVAC equipment frames, pump housings, and similar trade hardware. The single-piece, individual-quantity packaging makes it a practical replacement or repair unit for field and shop use alike.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service pin for mechanical assemblies requiring a 5/16-inch diameter flat vent pull out dowel in C1215 case-hardened steel.
Installation is typically performed by machinists or mechanical technicians using a pin press or dead-blow mallet. Ensure the receiving bore is clean, properly sized, and free of burrs before insertion. The threaded end is intended for use with a pull-out tool or slide hammer extractor — do not attempt extraction by driving from the threaded end. Follow applicable machinery safety lockout and tagout procedures before servicing any assembly containing this pin.
