The GIBRALTAR Z1220 is a flat vent pull out dowel pin used to locate, align, and secure components in precision assemblies and tooling fixtures. Manufactured from case-hardened C1215 steel, this pin measures 0.5 inches in diameter and 1 inch in overall length. One end is beveled for ease of insertion and the other end is threaded for extraction, making removal straightforward in blind-hole applications. The tight diameter tolerance of 0.0001 to 0.0003 inches ensures accurate, repeatable positioning. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics install these pins wherever consistent part alignment and positive retention are required.
This dowel pin is suited for use in jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, and general industrial assemblies where a pull out feature is necessary. The flat vent groove along the body allows trapped air and lubricant to escape during press-fit installation, reducing hydraulic lock and preventing galling. It is a common replacement or build-out component in both light manufacturing and heavy industrial maintenance environments. Single-unit packaging makes it practical for repair and retrofit applications as well as low-volume production runs.
Designed as a standard-geometry flat vent pull out dowel pin for use in jigs, fixtures, dies, and tooling assemblies requiring a 0.5-inch diameter locating pin with extraction capability.
Installation is typically performed by machinists or maintenance mechanics using an arbor press or mallet with a pin driver. Always ensure the receiving hole is deburred, clean, and dimensioned to the appropriate press-fit tolerance before driving the pin. Apply a light film of machine oil or assembly lubricant to the pin shank before insertion. To remove, engage the threaded end with the appropriate extraction tool and pull axially — do not pry laterally, as this can damage the bore.
