The GIBRALTAR SWPN-3P-G is a threaded spring plunger designed for positioning, indexing, and light-duty latching applications in mechanical assemblies. The steel body houses a phenolic-nose plunger that delivers 2.9 pounds of initial end force and 11.1 pounds of final end force, making it well-suited for consistent, repeatable engagement under load. A built-in locking element secures the plunger in the threaded bore to prevent backing out from vibration or repeated cycling. Machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assembly technicians install this type of component in fixtures, jigs, panels, and machine housings.
This spring plunger is used in industrial and mechanical assembly settings where a threaded, self-contained positioning or detent mechanism is required. The standard 10-32 thread allows installation into tapped holes in steel, aluminum, and other common structural materials. The 3/4 inch thread length provides adequate engagement depth for secure seating in typical panel and fixture stock. The 1/8 inch projection gives controlled plunger travel for indexing or light latching duties.
Designed as a standard threaded spring plunger for use in any application requiring a 10-32 tapped hole with a 3/4 inch minimum thread engagement depth.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger into a pre-tapped 10-32 hole using a hex key or appropriate drive tool on the body. Ensure the mating bore is clean and free of debris before installation. The locking element engages the thread on final torque-down to resist loosening, so do not over-drive the body or cross-thread the bore. No special tools or certifications are required for standard mechanical assembly work.
