The GIBRALTAR SWPFN10-4BLCZ-G is a press fit ball plunger designed for precision positioning, indexing, and detent applications in mechanical assemblies. The steel body measures 0.25 inches in diameter and 0.0471 inches in body length, with a flanged design that seats flush against the mating surface during installation. The nylon ball measures 0.437 inches in diameter with a maximum reach of 0.07 inches. Initial end force is 1.5 pounds and final end force is 3.5 pounds, providing a controlled, repeatable detent feel. The black finish offers basic corrosion resistance in light-duty environments. This plunger is installed by machinists, tool and die technicians, and mechanical assemblers.
The SWPFN10-4BLCZ-G suits applications where a press-in retention method is preferred over threaded installation. The flanged body provides a positive stop during press-in, helping ensure consistent seating depth without additional fixtures. Typical use cases include jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, drawer slides, cabinet hardware, and light industrial equipment where a spring-loaded nylon ball provides soft detent engagement without marring mating surfaces. The locking element is not present on this design.
Designed as an OEM-style press fit ball plunger for use in mechanical assemblies, jigs, fixtures, and tooling where a 0.25-inch diameter press fit bore is specified.
Installation is performed by pressing the plunger body into a properly sized and toleranced bore using an arbor press or hand press — do not strike with a hammer, as this may damage the flange or misalign the assembly. Ensure the bore diameter matches the body diameter specification to achieve correct retention force. De-burr and clean the bore before installation to prevent galling on the steel body. No special codes govern installation of mechanical plungers, but follow the equipment manufacturer's assembly specifications for bore prep and press force limits.
