The GIBRALTAR SWN10-8AFS-PT-G is a short-type threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty retention applications in mechanical assemblies. It features a 1/2-13 thread size with a 13/16 inch thread length and a maximum plunger diameter of 0.248 inches. The plunger delivers an initial end force of 1.7 pounds and a final end force of 8.5 pounds, providing consistent spring-loaded pressure for repeatable positioning. A locking element is included to secure the plunger in place once installed. The steel body ensures durability in demanding industrial environments, while the Delrin nose reduces friction and wear on mating surfaces.
This spring plunger is suited for use in machine tooling, fixture building, jig assembly, and general industrial component positioning. Its short plunger length and compact profile make it appropriate for applications with limited clearance. It is installed by machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assembly technicians. The locking element feature makes it especially useful in high-vibration environments where plunger migration is a concern.
Designed as a standard threaded spring plunger for use in any tapped 1/2-13 hole requiring short-projection, spring-loaded indexing or positioning retention.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger into a pre-tapped 1/2-13 hole using an appropriate wrench or hex tool on the body. Ensure the mating hole is clean and free of debris before installation. The locking element should be engaged after the plunger is set to the desired depth to prevent movement during operation. Do not overtighten, as excess torque can damage the plunger body or deform the locking element.
