The GIBRALTAR SWN10-8A-PT-G is a standard threaded spring plunger designed for positioning, indexing, and locking applications in mechanical assemblies. The plunger features a steel body with a nylon nose and a 1/2-13 thread size with a 1-1/4 inch thread length. It delivers an initial end force of 2.70 pounds and a final end force of 9.30 pounds, making it suitable for light-duty to moderate-duty detent and retention functions. A locking element is incorporated into the body to prevent backing out under vibration or repeated cycling. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and mechanical assembly technicians install this type of component.
This spring plunger is used in fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, and general mechanical assemblies where a spring-loaded detent or positioning stop is required. The nylon nose reduces marring on mating surfaces, making it appropriate for applications where surface finish on the contact face must be preserved. The locking element makes it well suited for installations subject to vibration or dynamic loading. Typical environments include manufacturing equipment, automation fixtures, and precision mechanical devices where repeatable positioning is critical.
Designed as a standard OEM-style threaded spring plunger for use in any application requiring a 1/2-13 tapped hole with a standard plunger projection detent or positioning function.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger into a pre-tapped 1/2-13 hole using an appropriate hex key or spanner tool on the body. Power down or de-energize any equipment before servicing assemblies that include spring plungers. The locking element should be engaged to the specified torque range recommended for the thread size per the manufacturer's installation guidelines. Avoid overtightening, which can damage the locking element or distort the plunger bore.
