The GIBRALTAR SWN10-5AFS-PT-G is a short-type threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty locking applications in industrial and mechanical assemblies. The steel body provides durable thread engagement with a 5/16-18 thread size and a thread length of 0.625 inches. The Delrin nose protects mating surfaces from scoring and reduces wear over repeated cycles. A locking element locks the plunger securely in position after installation, preventing backing out under vibration. Initial end force is 0.50 pounds and final end force is 4.50 pounds, making this plunger suitable for moderate-resistance positioning tasks. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and assembly line maintenance personnel typically install this component.
This spring plunger fits into threaded holes in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, machine frames, and similar mechanical assemblies where repeatable positioning or detent action is needed. The short plunger length classification makes it appropriate for shallow-depth applications where minimal projection clearance is available. The 0.135-inch maximum plunger diameter and 0.1875-inch projection keep the envelope compact, fitting in tight-tolerance work holding and fixture designs common in precision manufacturing environments.
Designed as a standard threaded spring plunger for use in tapped 5/16-18 holes in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and mechanical assemblies requiring indexing or detent positioning.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger body into a pre-tapped 5/16-18 hole using an appropriate hex key or spanner tool compatible with the plunger drive feature. De-energize or lock out any machine or assembly before servicing spring plunger components. The locking element should be engaged after final positioning is confirmed to prevent movement during operation. Do not overtighten, as this can deform the body or damage the nose element.
