The GIBRALTAR SWN10-4AFS-PT-G is a short-style threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty holding applications in mechanical assemblies. It features a 1/4-20 thread size with a 5/8-inch thread length, a maximum plunger diameter of 0.119 inches, and a 3/16-inch nose projection. The steel body provides durability in industrial environments, while the Delrin nose reduces friction and wear against mating surfaces. A built-in locking element secures the plunger in position once installed. Initial end force is 0.30 pounds and final end force is 3.50 pounds, making it suited for light-load detent and positioning applications.
This spring plunger is used in mechanical assemblies where a threaded, spring-loaded contact point is needed to index or hold components in a repeatable position. Typical applications include machine fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, enclosures, and general industrial equipment. The short plunger length designation suits installations where space behind the threaded hole is limited. The locking element eliminates the need for thread-locking compounds by mechanically retaining the plunger after installation torque is applied.
Designed as a standard OEM-style replacement or new-installation threaded spring plunger for mechanical assemblies using 1/4-20 tapped holes requiring a short-style plunger with a locking element.
Installation is typically performed by mechanical technicians or machinists using a hex key or spanner tool appropriate for the plunger head style. The receiving hole must be tapped to 1/4-20 before installation. Ensure the locking element engages fully by applying proper installation torque — do not over-torque, as this can damage the locking element or thread. No power lockout is required, but the assembly should be de-energized or de-pressurized as appropriate for the host equipment before servicing.
