The GIBRALTAR SWN10-4-G is a threaded spring plunger designed to provide controlled, spring-loaded force in positioning, indexing, and locking applications. The body is constructed from steel with a nylon nose, offering durability in light industrial and mechanical assembly environments. It features a 1/4-20 thread size with a 1 inch thread length and a maximum plunger diameter of 0.118 inches. The plunger delivers 3 pounds of initial end force and 13 pounds of final end force, making it suitable for applications requiring consistent, repeatable engagement. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assembly technicians are the primary installers.
This spring plunger is used in jigs, fixtures, machine tool components, and light industrial assemblies where a threaded, spring-loaded detent or positioning element is needed. The standard plunger length type and 3/16 inch projection make it a fit for applications with limited clearance or shallow engagement depth requirements. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both prototype and production-volume installations.
Designed as a standard threaded spring plunger for use in tapped 1/4-20 holes in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and mechanical assemblies requiring spring-loaded positioning or detent function.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger into a pre-tapped 1/4-20 hole using an appropriate hex key or spanner tool. Ensure the mating hole is clean and free of debris before installation. Do not overtighten, as this can compress the internal spring beyond its rated travel and reduce plunger function. Disengage any loaded mechanisms before servicing or replacing plungers in active fixtures.
