The GIBRALTAR SWN10-3AFS-G is a threaded spring plunger designed to provide controlled, spring-loaded positioning and indexing in mechanical assemblies. The steel body houses a Delrin nose that extends 1/8 inch when engaged, delivering a 0.30 pound initial end force and a 3.00 pound final end force. The short plunger configuration and 10-32 threaded body with a 9/16 inch thread length make this component well suited for compact installations where space is limited. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and assembly specialists install this type of component into threaded bores to retain, locate, or provide detent action on sliding or rotating parts.
This spring plunger is used in light-duty mechanical and industrial applications including jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, machine enclosures, and equipment panels. The short plunger length is appropriate for installations where minimal projection beyond the mounting surface is required. The 10-32 thread size is common in instrument-grade and light mechanical hardware. The Delrin nose reduces surface marking on mating components, making it suitable for use against softer metals, plastics, or finished surfaces.
Designed as a standard OEM-style replacement or new-installation spring plunger for mechanical assemblies using 10-32 threaded bores requiring a short-projection, light-force detent component.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger body into a pre-tapped 10-32 bore using an appropriate hex key or driver; ensure the bore is clean and free of debris before installation. Do not overtighten, as the steel body can damage threads in softer base materials. Confirm plunger projection and spring force are appropriate for the mating surface load before finalizing the installation. No locking element is included, so thread adhesive may be applied if retention under vibration is required.
