The GIBRALTAR SWN10-2FSP-G is a short-body threaded spring plunger designed to provide controlled, repeatable positioning and indexing force in mechanical assemblies. The steel body accepts an 8-32 thread with a 1/2 inch thread length, and the Delrin nose projects 3/32 inches to engage mating surfaces with precision. Initial end force is 0.50 pounds and final end force is 4.00 pounds, making this plunger suitable for light-duty detent and locating applications. A built-in locking element secures the plunger in the threaded bore to prevent backing out under vibration or repeated cycling. Machinists, tool and die specialists, and mechanical assembly technicians install this type of hardware in fixtures, jigs, and production tooling.
This spring plunger is used in threaded holes tapped to 8-32 in ferrous and non-ferrous housings, fixtures, and machine components. The short plunger length type suits confined spaces where standard-length plungers would not fit. Typical applications include panel locating, drawer stops, tooling fixtures, and indexing mechanisms in both light industrial and precision assembly environments. The Delrin nose reduces wear on mating surfaces and is appropriate for use against softer materials or finished surfaces where a steel nose would cause marking or galling.
Designed for use in any threaded assembly or fixture accepting an 8-32 threaded spring plunger with a 1/2 inch thread length and short plunger body configuration.
Installation requires a properly tapped 8-32 threaded hole in the mating component. Use an appropriate hex key or driver to thread the plunger into the bore, engaging the locking element to secure the assembly. Avoid overtightening, which can damage the locking element or distort the threaded bore. Ensure the nose projection path is clear of obstructions before final installation.
