The GIBRALTAR SWN10-1BP-G is a threaded ball plunger designed for positioning, indexing, and light-duty detent applications in mechanical assemblies. The plunger features a steel body with a zinc-plated finish and a nylon ball, sized at 0.078 inches in diameter with a maximum ball reach of 0.023 inches. The 6-40 threaded body measures 0.312 inches in length, making it suitable for installations where space is constrained. Initial end force is 0.5 pounds, and final end force is 1 pound. A locking element is included to secure the plunger in position after installation. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers typically install this component.
This ball plunger is used in light mechanical assemblies where repeatable positioning or soft detent action is needed. Typical applications include fixture alignment, tooling plates, jigs, enclosure latches, and sliding component retention. The nylon ball provides smooth, low-friction contact against mating surfaces without marring or scratching, making it well suited for use against softer materials or finished surfaces. The compact 6-40 thread size fits tapped holes in thin stock and small machined parts where standard plunger sizes would not fit.
Designed as a standard threaded ball plunger for use in any mechanical assembly or tooling application requiring a 6-40 tapped hole and light-duty detent or positioning function.
Install using a hex key or appropriate driver into a properly tapped 6-40 hole. Ensure the mating bore is clean and free of debris before threading in the plunger. The locking element engages during installation to resist loosening under vibration; do not overtighten, as this can damage the nylon ball or distort the locking element. Depressurize or de-energize any assembly before servicing plungers in active mechanisms.
