The GIBRALTAR SW10-4X-PT-G is a threaded spring plunger designed for positioning, indexing, and light clamping applications in mechanical assemblies. It features a 1/4-20 thread with a 3/4-inch thread length and a 1/8-inch (0.125 inches decimal) plunger projection. The steel body and steel nose deliver durability in demanding industrial and trade environments. A built-in locking element secures the plunger in the threaded bore, preventing loosening from vibration or repeated cycling. Initial end force is 2 pounds and final end force is 9 pounds, making it suitable for controlled-force indexing tasks. Licensed tradespeople and assembly technicians are the typical installers.
This spring plunger is used in light industrial machinery, fixture building, jig assembly, and mechanical positioning applications where a repeatable detent or positive stop is needed. The standard plunger length type and 3/4-inch body length make it a straightforward drop-in for most 1/4-20 tapped holes. It is well suited to both OEM manufacturing builds and field service repairs on mechanical equipment across HVAC, electrical, and general trade applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation spring plunger for mechanical assemblies using standard 1/4-20 tapped bores requiring a steel-body threaded spring plunger with locking element.
Installation is performed by mechanical technicians or qualified tradespeople using a standard hex wrench or screwdriver appropriate for the drive style. Power down and de-energize any equipment before servicing mechanical assemblies. Thread the plunger into a clean, properly tapped 1/4-20 bore and torque only to the point of firm seating — do not over-tighten, as this can damage the locking element or distort the bore. Confirm plunger projection and spring force are appropriate for the application before finalizing the installation.
