The GIBRALTAR SW10-3AP-G is a standard threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty locking applications in precision assemblies and mechanical fixtures. It features a 10-32 thread with a 3/4-inch thread length and a steel body with an integrated locking element that locks the plunger securely in place once adjusted. The plunger nose diameter measures 0.092 inches with a 1/8-inch projection. Initial end force is 1.3 pounds and final end force is 2.7 pounds, providing consistent, repeatable spring tension suited for low-load positioning tasks. Machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assemblers working on jigs, fixtures, and light industrial assemblies typically install this component.
This spring plunger is used in applications requiring controlled detent or positioning force within threaded bores. The standard-length plunger profile fits typical threaded mounting holes in fixture plates, jig bodies, and machine components. The steel nose and body construction makes it appropriate for moderate-duty production environments where durability and consistent spring performance are required. The locking element eliminates the need for a secondary locking nut, simplifying installation and reducing overall assembly height in tight clearance situations.
Designed as a direct-thread-in replacement or new-installation spring plunger for any application accepting a 10-32 threaded spring plunger with a standard 3/4-inch body length.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger into a pre-tapped 10-32 hole using a spanner wrench or appropriate drive tool on the body flats. Power down or de-energize any machine or fixture before installing or adjusting the plunger. Use the integrated locking element to secure the plunger at the desired depth once the correct projection is confirmed. Avoid over-torquing the body, as this can distort the thread or compromise the locking element function.
