The GIBRALTAR SW10-2AP-G is a threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty detent applications in mechanical assemblies. It features an 8-32 thread size with a 5/8-inch thread length and a maximum plunger diameter of 0.07 inches. The plunger projection measures 3/32 inches (0.0938 inches decimal). Both the body and nose are constructed from steel for durability in industrial and trade environments. A built-in locking element secures the plunger in its threaded bore after installation, preventing rotation or back-out under vibration. Initial end force is 0.7 pounds and final end force is 2.3 pounds. This part is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers.
This spring plunger is suited for use in fixtures, jigs, machine housings, and panel assemblies where a compact, threaded-in detent or positioning stop is required. The standard plunger length type and 5/8-inch body length make it compatible with typical tapped-hole installations in thin to medium-wall steel or aluminum components. Its small plunger diameter and modest spring forces make it appropriate for light-load indexing and soft-stop applications rather than heavy retention tasks.
Designed as a standard threaded spring plunger for use in any application with an 8-32 tapped hole requiring a compact steel detent or indexing element.
Installation requires a properly tapped 8-32 hole at the correct depth to accommodate the 5/8-inch thread length. Use an appropriate driver or hex tool to engage the locking element fully into the bore. Power down or de-energize any equipment before servicing assemblies containing this plunger. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the locking element or distort the plunger bore.
