The GIBRALTAR SW10-1AFSP-G is a threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty locating applications in mechanical assemblies. The plunger body and nose are both constructed from steel, providing durability in industrial and trade environments. It features a 6-32 thread size with a thread length of 0.375 inches, a short plunger length type, and a maximum plunger diameter of 0.046 inches. A built-in locking element secures the plunger in place once installed, preventing back-out under vibration or repeated cycling. Initial end force is 0.50 pounds and final end force is 1.50 pounds.
This spring plunger is suited for use in light mechanical assemblies where repeatable positioning or detent action is required. Typical applications include panel assembly, fixture building, tooling jigs, and equipment manufacturing. The 6-32 thread size makes it compatible with standard tapped holes in thin metal panels, brackets, and machined components. The short plunger projection of 0.0625 inches is appropriate for tight-clearance installations where minimal protrusion is needed.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-installation threaded spring plunger for assemblies using 6-32 tapped holes requiring a short-projection, steel-body plunger with a locking element.
Installation is typically performed by machinists, tool and die makers, or mechanical assemblers using a standard screwdriver or hex key suited to the plunger drive style. Thread the plunger into a pre-tapped 6-32 hole and tighten to seat the locking element before placing the assembly into service. De-energize or de-pressurize any associated equipment before servicing components in the assembly. Do not overtighten, as this may deform the locking element or damage the mating threads.
