The GIBRALTAR SW10-10-PT-G is a standard-length threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty locking applications in industrial and mechanical assemblies. The plunger features a 5/8-11 thread with a 1-1/2 inch thread length and a steel body with a steel nose. Initial end force is 10.5 pounds and final end force is 25.5 pounds, making it suitable for consistent, repeatable positioning under moderate spring load. The 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch decimal) plunger projection provides controlled travel. A locking element is incorporated into the body to secure the plunger in position after installation. This component is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers working on fixtures, jigs, and machine tooling.
This spring plunger is used in applications where a spring-loaded detent or positioning stop is required within a threaded hole. Typical install scenarios include machine tool fixtures, assembly jigs, workholding equipment, and general industrial machinery where repeatable part registration or panel retention is needed. The 5/8-11 thread size fits standard tapped holes commonly found in steel and aluminum fixture plates. The integrated locking element prevents the plunger from backing out under vibration or repeated cycling.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new-install threaded spring plunger for standard 5/8-11 tapped holes in industrial fixtures, jigs, machine tooling, and mechanical assemblies requiring spring-loaded indexing or positioning.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a hex wrench or spanner tool appropriate for the plunger body. Ensure the receiving tapped hole is clean and free of debris before threading in the plunger. The locking element should be engaged after the plunger is set to the desired depth to prevent rotation or back-out. De-energize or lock out any powered equipment before servicing fixtures or assemblies containing this component.
