The GIBRALTAR SSW10-8-G is a standard threaded spring plunger designed for positioning, locating, and light-duty locking applications in industrial assemblies and mechanical fixtures. The plunger features a 1/2-13 thread with a body and thread length of 1-1/4 inches and a maximum plunger diameter of 0.248 inches. Projection from the seated position measures 0.25 inches. The stainless steel body resists corrosion and handles repeated cycling without fatigue, making it well suited for environments where cleanliness or moisture resistance is a factor. Initial end force is 6.6 pounds, with a final end force of 17.4 pounds.
This spring plunger is used in general industrial, machining, and fabrication settings where a spring-loaded nose is needed to index, retain, or lightly position a component. Common applications include jigs and fixtures, tooling assemblies, and light mechanical indexing mechanisms. The steel nose and stainless steel body combination suits both standard shop environments and light washdown conditions. This is a single-piece unit sold individually.
Designed as a standard OEM-style threaded spring plunger for use in tapped 1/2-13 holes in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and general mechanical assemblies requiring spring-loaded nose positioning.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger into a pre-tapped 1/2-13 hole using a hex key sized for the 0.1562 inch hex drive. Ensure the mating bore is clean and free of debris before installation. Do not overtighten, as excessive torque can compress the internal spring mechanism and affect end-force performance. Always power down or de-energize any associated machinery before servicing or replacing spring plungers in active assemblies.
