The GIBRALTAR SSW10-2AP-G is a threaded spring plunger designed for positioning, indexing, and light-duty locking applications in mechanical assemblies. The body and nose are both constructed from stainless steel, making this plunger suitable for environments where corrosion resistance is a priority. It features an 8-32 thread size with a 5/8 inch thread length and a standard plunger length of 5/8 inch. The maximum plunger diameter is 0.069 inches, with a 3/32 inch projection. A built-in locking element secures the plunger in the threaded bore and prevents loosening under vibration. Installed by machinists, tool and die makers, and mechanical assembly technicians.
This spring plunger is suited for use in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and precision mechanical assemblies requiring repeatable positioning or detent action. The stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for cleanroom, food processing, and corrosive industrial environments. With an initial end force of 0.70 pounds and a final end force of 2.30 pounds, it provides a light, controlled engagement force. The locking element allows secure installation without thread-locking compounds. It is sold individually and is a direct drop-in for standard 8-32 threaded bores.
Designed as a direct replacement or new-installation spring plunger for any mechanical assembly or fixture with a standard 8-32 threaded bore requiring a stainless steel body with locking element.
Installation is performed using a standard hex key or driver appropriate for the locking element style. Ensure the receiving bore is clean and properly tapped to 8-32 before installation. The locking element eliminates the need for thread-locking adhesives, but the bore threads should be free of debris and damage. Power down or de-energize any associated equipment before servicing assemblies containing spring plungers.
