The GIBRALTAR SSW10-10A-G is a standard threaded spring plunger used to locate, position, or index workpieces and components in industrial fixtures, jigs, and assemblies. It features a 5/8-11 thread with a 1-1/2 inch thread length and delivers 3.5 pounds of initial end force rising to 10.5 pounds of final end force. The stainless steel body and stainless steel nose provide corrosion resistance in wash-down, coolant-exposed, or high-humidity environments. The plunger projects 5/16 inches at full extension with a maximum plunger diameter of 0.31 inches. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders install this component in CNC fixtures, inspection tools, and production assembly setups.
This spring plunger is suited for light-duty indexing and positioning applications where repeatable part location is required. The standard plunger length configuration makes it compatible with through-hole mounting in fixture plates, tooling blocks, and machine tables. No locking element is included, so the plunger threads directly into a tapped hole without a set-screw lock feature. It is commonly used in machine shops, manufacturing cells, and precision assembly lines where stainless steel hardware is specified for cleanliness or corrosion resistance.
Designed as a direct-fit threaded spring plunger for tapped holes requiring a 5/8-11 thread. Suitable for use in fixture plates, tooling blocks, and machine table applications where a standard-length stainless steel spring plunger is specified.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists using standard hex or spanner tooling appropriate for the plunger body. Thread the plunger into a properly tapped 5/8-11 hole; avoid over-torquing the body, which can deform the thread or restrict plunger travel. Ensure the bore is clean and free of chips or coolant residue before installation. Confirm plunger travel is unobstructed after seating to verify correct force engagement.
