The GIBRALTAR SSTPR38-PT-G is a stainless steel locking pull ring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and locking applications in mechanical assemblies. It features a 3/8-16 thread size with a 1.2-inch thread length, a plunger diameter of 0.233 inches, and a plunger projection of 0.375 inches. The integrated locking element holds the plunger in the retracted position until manually released via the pull ring, which measures 0.98 inches in diameter. End force ranges from 2 pounds initial to 4 pounds final, making it suitable for light-duty positive-stop and detent applications. Machinists, millwrights, and mechanical assembly technicians are the typical installers.
This plunger is used in industrial equipment, jigs, fixtures, enclosures, and machine tool assemblies where a retractable, lockable locating pin is required. The locking pull ring allows the plunger to remain retracted without continuous manual force, which is useful in repetitive alignment or access-panel applications. With a body length of 1.68 inches and a head height of 0.48 inches, it fits into compact threaded boss locations common in light industrial and OEM equipment builds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation locking pull ring plunger for threaded assemblies requiring a 3/8-16 threaded boss and a retractable locking plunger mechanism.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger body into a prepared 3/8-16 tapped hole to the required depth, then securing with a jam nut or thread-locking compound as appropriate for the application. De-energize or lock out any powered equipment before servicing assemblies containing this plunger. Use appropriate thread engagement depth to avoid bottoming out the plunger body, which would prevent proper spring function. Verify plunger projection and clearance against mating locating holes before final assembly.
